Virginia Lee Elwood, the daughter of Wayne and Alberta (Lee) Kimpson was born February 16, 1941 in Adams County, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her home in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 78 years and 26 days.

Virginia was raised in the Grant, Iowa area and graduated from Griswold High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Warren M. Elwood on July 4, 1959 at Elliott, Iowa. They lived in Lewis and Griswold before making Red Oak their home. Virginia enjoyed her career as a personal caregiver and was caring for others up until the past several months. She was awarded the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor award for her help and service to so many people while in Lewis.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Alice Spring.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Warren Elwood of Red Oak, IA; sons: Randy (Pam) Elwood of Atlantic, IA and Tracy (Sharlene) Elwood of Greenfield, IA; and daughter, Kim (Sonny) Koenck of Estherville, IA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 4 sisters; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
