Wanda Rae Johnson, the daughter of George and Lela Westover Courcier was born July 30, 1928 in Grant, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 23 days. Wanda was raised in Grant. On May 26, 1945 Wanda was united in marriage to Larence "Larry" Johnson in Red Oak, Iowa. For the following nine years, Larry and Wanda made their home in the Grant and Wallin areas until moving into Stanton in l954. Wanda was a caregiver for Norma Anderson and later a bookkeeper for Wistrom Oil and Sellergren Propane. She also worked with her husband Larry, in their business that they owned for 10 years, Stanton TV and Electric. Wanda loved golfing with her husband and they played in many tournaments. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, camping, bird watching and crocheting. Wanda loved her grandchildren dearly and attended all of their activities that she possibly could. She was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry on February 14, 2004; grandson, Dustin Henry; great-grandson, Cody Gilliland; two sisters: Lola and Cleo; and brother, William. Wanda is survived by her three children: Pat Gilliland and husband, Jerry of Stanton, IA; Larence "Butch" Johnson Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Leon, IA; Donna Johnson and husband, Tom of Stanton, IA; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Everett Courcier of Stanton, IA; sister, Georgia Frank of Grant, IA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives along with a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa Rev. Paul Warder, Officiating Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service. No Visitation or Viewing will be held. A memorial is being established in Wanda's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
