Wayne Bryce Embree, the son of Lisle Bryce and Doris (Rosenquist) Embree was born September 28, 1950 at Waterloo, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 63 years and 13 days. Wayne was raised on a farm near Elliott, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church of Griswold, Iowa. He attended grade school at Elliott and graduated from Griswold High School in 1968. He continued his education at Iowa Western Community College at Clarinda and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Wayne farmed for many years along side his father, Bryce. He had also worked for John Deere and Star Agri both of Red Oak. Wayne moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked ten years for Lancer Labels. In 2008, he moved to West Des Moines, Iowa working for Windsor Windows, from which he retired. Wayne was united in marriage to Donna Howard Holland on May 17, 2008 in Des Moines, Iowa. Wayne was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed touring on his bike. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan attending all the home games he could, and truly loved spending time with family and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Bryce; son, Jeffrey and step-daughter, Shawnelle Lindquist Johnson. Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna Embree of West Des Moines, IA; children: Jason (Jennifer) Embree of Gibsonia, PA, Melissa Mendez of West Des Moines, IA, and Cody (Sterling) Embree of Red Oak, IA; step-son, Todd Holland and companion Margaret Simmons of West Des Moines, IA; mother, Doris Embree of Red Oak, IA; 5 grandchildren: Alec Jeffrey Embree, Olivia Embree, Ryan Mendez, Mason Bryce Mendez and Colin Bryce Embree; along with other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Pastor Celeste Waymire, Officiating Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorials to the John Stoddard Cancer Center, Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
