William Eugene Arnold, the son of August Samuel and Corda Abney Arnold was born December 18, 1928 in Sedalia, Missouri. He passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 27 days. William grew up in Sedalia, MO graduating from high school in l947. William was united in marriage to Marjorie Jean Conlee on April 25, 1948 in Sedalia. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University, graduating with a degree in Accounting. William and Jean moved to Auburn, NE in the 1949. He worked as an accountant for Darling Transfer. In his spare time, William also repaired televisions and radios. William and Jean made their home in Auburn for 17 years. In 1972, William decided to change occupations. For the next 30 years, he and Jean purchased, remodeled and operated motels in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas and Iowa. William was a person who never stop learning and nor afraid to try many things. He became a real estate broker, locksmith and grocery store owner. In 2000, William and Jean moved to Red Oak where he helped prepare taxes for H & R Block. William enjoyed playing the guitar and giving guitar lessons, woodworking and leather work. He was a member of Faith Community Church in Red Oak and a past member of Kiwanis and Toastmasters. While being a man who wore many hats, his proudest accomplishment was his family who he adored and treasured spending time with. William was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Samuel Arnold and sister, Maxine Wertman. William is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Jean Arnold of Red Oak, IA; daughters: Jackie Loucks and husband Charles of Platte City, MO; and Melissa Arnold of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren: Ted Henderson, Jr., Jim Henderson and wife Nancy, Jennifer Henderson, Dan Arnold and wife Victoria, and Adam Arnold; 6 great-grandchildren: William Arnold, Taylor Ann Henderson, Cameron Henderson, Alex Zook, Claire Swanson and A.J. Qvern; along with other relatives and many friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Community Church, Red Oak, IA Rev. David MacDonald, Officiating Memorials to Faith Community Church Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
