Obituary

William "Bill" Lee Eggert, the son of Raymond and Glenna (Frame) Eggert was born October 13, 1947, at Lincoln, Nebraska. He passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Bill was raised in Unadilla, Nebraska, until the age of 12, when the family moved to Clearfield, Iowa. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1965 and attended two years of mechanic school at Southwestern Community College, Creston, Iowa. Bill enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on September 13, 1967. He served as a jet engine mechanic and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharged on March 6, 1971. Following his military service, Bill worked at Harvey Brothers Motor Company in Mt Ayr, Iowa. In 1987, he moved to Red Oak working for McAlpin Motors and Hawkeye Ford. Shortly after moving to Red Oak, Bill joined the Iowa Army National Guard. He served two tours of duty overseas in Desert Storm and in Iraq. Bill enjoyed bowling and refinishing furniture. He loved his family and instilled to his children how important education was. Bill was an active member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge and a past member of the V.F.W.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Eggert, and nephew, Michael Eggert.

Bill is survived by his three children: Kevin (Melissa) Eggert of Clearfield, IA, Darwin Eggert of Lenox, IA, and Kristine (Nicholas) Jackson of Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; companion, Phyllis Biggs of Red Oak, IA; and nephew, Andy (Lesley) Eggert of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Red Oak Eagles Lodge.
