Thomas Edwin Porter, the son of Harry and Pearl Grayson Porter was born February 16, 1938 in Mills County, Iowa near Strahan. He died suddenly on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 9 days. Tom was raised in Mills County, Iowa and graduated from Emerson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tom had operated a gas station in Lincoln, Nebraska for 6 years before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. At different times in his career, he worked as a service manager for several large car dealerships. The past 35 years, Tom owned and operated his own automotive repair service, TP's Automotive in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Tom was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed building and racing stock cars. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Matt, a daughter, Teresa, a brother, Richard and an infant sister. Tom is survived by 2 daughters, Debra Robertson and husband Danny of Red Oak, IA and Kristen Porter of Omaha, NE; two sons, Mark Porter and wife Elizabeth of Spicewood, TX and Rick Porter of New Orleans, LA; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Kearney, Johnas Perkins and Justine Cooper; great-grandchild, Ashton Kearney; sister, Jean Wood and husband Fred of Hudson, SD; other relatives and a host of friends.
