Obituary

Lorraine G. Larson, the daughter of Knute and Lydia Malmberg Hallquist was born December 5, 1917 near Stanton, Iowa. She died on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Stanton Care Center, Stanton at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 4 days. Lorraine was raised in the Stanton area, graduating from Stanton High School in l935. Lorraine was united in marriage to C. Harold Larson on September 29, 1940 at the home of her parents near Stanton. Lorraine and Harold lived on their farm near Stanton for 43 years, where they raised their four children. Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for Connor's Department Store in Red Oak for 19 years. While living on the farm, she was an active member of Tabor Lutheran Church at Wallin. After retiring in 1982, Harold and Lorraine moved to Red Oak where she currently was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was very active with many projects in the churches she loved. Lorraine was an artist at heart and loved painting, making handiwork items and weaving rugs which many in the area purchased. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends and baking cinnamon rolls to share with loved ones. Lorraine was a past member of Entre Nous in Stanton. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold on August 22, 1989; and brother, Donald Hallquist. Lorraine is survived by her children: Barbara Reiman and husband Bruce of Papillion, NE; John Larson of Ft. Worth, TX; Linda Wodarski and husband Larry of Incline Village, NV; and Keith Larson and special friend Cathi Brown of Red Oak, IA; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Louise Johnson of Stanton, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mrs. Eleanor Hallquist of Stanton, IA; brothers-in-law: Darwin Anderson of Red Oak, IA and Eugene Larson of Cedar Rapids, IA; other relatives and a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. At Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Red Oak Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, IA Rev. Dr. George Hooper & Rev. John Rinde, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials to Red Oak Fire & Rescue or Stanton Fire & Rescue Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
